UK - England to Wales

Not far from Amesbury is a site called Woodhenge. This 800 hectares of ancient landscape is part of the Stonehenge World Heritage site. It was built about the same time as Stonhenge ie 4500 years ago. There are 6 concentric rings of wooden posts broadly aligned in the direction of midsummer sunrise and midwinter sunset. Ancient fragments of pottery, arrowheads, remnants of houses, human remains and flint tools, have been found to enable archaeologists to date this area called Durrington Walls Settlement. We visited Stonehenge last time we were in this area - see Album 3.
